The trailer of Jailer 2, starring Rajinikanth as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, was released by Sun Pictures on Monday, October 5. The sequel to the 2023 action film Jailer is scheduled to release worldwide on October 15. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film continues the story of the retired jailer introduced in the first instalment.
The trailer shows Tiger living a quiet life in a remote village, where he works as a driver. However, his peaceful existence is disrupted when his past begins to catch up with him. The idol smuggling network that Tiger confronted in Jailer appears to become a threat again, forcing him back into a conflict involving former associates and new adversaries.
SJ Suryah features prominently in the trailer and appears to be positioned as a key antagonist. However, the makers have kept details about his character and motivations largely undisclosed. Vidya Balan, who is making her Tamil debut with the film, also appears in the trailer, although her character's connection with Tiger has not been revealed.

The trailer also offers brief glimpses of Jackie Shroff, Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar. Vijay Sethupathi, whose involvement in the sequel had previously been confirmed, does not appear in the released trailer. The presence of multiple established actors suggests that the sequel will feature several characters involved in the central conflict.
Alongside its action sequences, Jailer 2 retains the humour that was part of the first film. The trailer combines Rajinikanth's action-driven sequences with lighter moments while keeping several aspects of the story under wraps. The film is written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, with Rajinikanth returning to the role of Tiger Muthuvel Pandian.
Jailer 2 is set to arrive in cinemas worldwide on October 15. The sequel follows the success of Jailer, which featured Rajinikanth as the retired jailer drawn into a confrontation with an idol smuggling operation. The new film is expected to further explore Tiger's past and the enemies connected to it.
