Yami Gautam is set to headline the upcoming Indian fantasy family entertainer Nayyi Navelli, with the makers unveiling its trailer on Wednesday. Set against the backdrop of a chaotic household in Meerut, the film introduces Yami as Mohini, a picture-perfect bride whose arrival initially appears to bring warmth and charm to the family. However, the seemingly ordinary setting soon takes a darker and supernatural turn.
The trailer blends everyday family chaos with dark humour and elements drawn from Indian folklore. Mohini gradually becomes the centre of suspicion within the household, while the story introduces the mysterious setting of “Raavan Raj”. Yami is presented in a markedly different avatar as supernatural themes begin to take over the narrative, with her character being associated with the image of a daayan.
The trailer also hints at a larger fantasy storyline involving a demon from the Treta Yuga and the pursuit of supernatural power. Yami's character appears to be closely connected to this mythology, suggesting that the film will move between family drama, humour and fantasy as the story progresses. The premise sets up a conflict in which the apparently ordinary household becomes entangled in events with a much darker dimension.

Earlier this month, the makers released the teaser, which introduced the film's horror-comedy tone. It began with the arrival of the new bride into the family before suspicions about her identity emerged. Yami's portrayal in the teaser hinted at the supernatural elements surrounding her character and established the playful approach that the film appears to take toward its fantasy and folklore themes.
Nayyi Navelli is directed by Balaji Mohan, with Himanshu Sharma and Divy Nidhi Sharma credited as writers. Aanand L Rai and Sharma are producing the film under Colour Yellow, marking the production house's first collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios. The film's music has been composed by GV Prakash Kumar.
For Yami, the project presents a character that differs from several of her recent screen appearances. She was most recently seen in a cameo in Dhurandhar: The Revenge and has previously led films including Haq and Article 370. With its mix of family entertainment, dark humour, Indian folklore and fantasy, Nayyi Navelli is set to arrive as a Dussehra release.
