Delhi Police arrested 19-year-old Vishnu, a resident of Nabi Karim, for his alleged involvement in a hit-and-run incident that left a pedestrian seriously injured in central Delhi’s Paharganj area. The incident, which occurred on September 25 on Sadar Thana Road, has sparked renewed concerns about road safety and accountability in the capital. The swift action by law enforcement, aided by CCTV footage and intelligence, led to the seizure of the motorcycle involved and the apprehension of the suspect, highlighting the city’s efforts to curb such reckless acts.
The incident unfolded when Vishnu, riding a motorcycle, struck a pedestrian, leaving the victim in critical condition. The injured individual was promptly rushed to Lady Hardinge Hospital for urgent medical attention. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Nidhin Valsan, the absence of eyewitnesses at the scene or hospital complicated initial investigations. Consequently, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Paharganj police station, prompting the formation of a dedicated team to probe the matter.
Police efforts to track down the perpetrator relied heavily on technological and investigative resources. By meticulously scanning CCTV footage from the area, authorities identified an abandoned motorcycle in Nabi Karim, which was confirmed as the vehicle involved in the incident. Further inquiries revealed that the bike belonged to an individual who disclosed that Vishnu had been using it at the time of the accident. This breakthrough led to Vishnu’s apprehension, bringing the case closer to resolution.

Frightened by the incident, he admitted to fleeing the scene. The police have since seized the motorcycle as evidence, and investigations are ongoing to ascertain the full circumstances of the crash, including whether negligence or reckless driving contributed to the accident.
This hit-and-run case underscores the persistent challenge of road safety in Delhi, where such incidents often leave victims vulnerable and communities shaken. The arrest serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible driving and the role of vigilant policing in ensuring justice.
