The Sikkim Education Department has partnered with Google to promote the use of artificial intelligence in higher education across the Himalayan state. The collaboration will focus on strengthening the digital capabilities of faculty members and helping educators adopt emerging technologies in teaching and other academic practices.
As part of the partnership, the Google AI Educator Series will be rolled out as a hands-on training programme for higher education faculty. The initiative is designed to familiarise educators with Google’s latest AI tools and help them incorporate artificial intelligence into classroom teaching. It is also intended to support the development of more technology-enabled and future-ready learning experiences.
The programme will be implemented across 15 higher and technical government colleges as well as Khangchendzonga State University. Through the training, faculty members will be supported in developing new digital skills and exploring ways to use AI to improve teaching practices. The initiative is expected to strengthen educators’ ability to respond to the changing requirements of higher education.
