BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi praised India’s Operation Sindoor, a retaliatory strike against Pakistan following the April 22, 2025, Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians, mostly tourists. Speaking at a seminar hosted by the Centre for Global India Insights, Sarangi, a Bhubaneswar MP, said such decisive action should have been taken after the 2008 Mumbai attacks, which claimed 166 lives. She highlighted Operation Sindoor’s precision strikes on nine terror camps in Pakistan and PoK on May 7 as a “new normal” in India’s anti-terror doctrine.
Sarangi, part of a multi-party delegation to 33 countries, emphasized India’s zero-tolerance policy. “Post-26/11, we lacked the political will for such strikes,” she said, citing previous attacks like the 2001 Parliament assault and contrasting them with Modi’s resolve in Uri (2016), Balakot (2019), and now Sindoor. Rajya Sabha MP Brij Lal echoed her, calling the operation a confidence-building measure, while noting Japan and South Korea praised India’s technological precision.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, who visited six European nations, stressed unity abroad despite domestic critiques. “Pahalgam reminded me of 26/11, which spurred me into politics,” she said, affirming India’s firm response to cross-border terrorism. A 16-hour Lok Sabha debate on the operation is slated for next week, with the opposition demanding Modi’s reply. The seminar marked three months since the Pahalgam attack, underscoring India’s shift to proactive defense.
