In a bold move, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has named senior leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi as the new in-charge of its Goa unit, replacing Pankaj Gupta, who is stepping back due to health reasons. Announced on Friday by AAP’s National General Secretary Sandeep Pathak, Atishi’s appointment signals the party’s aggressive push to expand its footprint in the coastal state ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
Atishi, a key strategist and the Leader of Opposition in Delhi, is set to spearhead AAP’s efforts to strengthen its organization in Goa, where it won two seats—Velim and Benaulim—in the 2022 polls. With her sharp political acumen, she aims to rally support and challenge the BJP and Congress in a state where AAP sees big potential for growth. “We wish Atishi ji the best in her new role,” Pathak stated, as party supporters on X buzzed with excitement over the change.
