A 32-year-old woman was arrested after her Kia Seltos allegedly collided with another SUV and then struck several pedestrians in Nagpur's Gorewada area on Tuesday night, leaving seven people, including three children, injured, according to police. The incident took place near the Dinshaw factory on September 15, prompting a police response and a subsequent crowd gathering at the local police station.

According to the police account reported by NDTV, the driver of the other SUV was identified as Balu Kulmethe. He was allegedly getting out of his vehicle along with his young daughter when the Kia Seltos collided with the SUV and struck them. The impact was followed by the car continuing along the road at high speed, resulting in further collisions with pedestrians in the area.

Police said the speeding vehicle subsequently struck three children who were walking along the road. Two other people, identified as Harish Rambhau Revatkar and Ashish Nakhate, were also hit. Seven people were injured in the incident and were taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Police are continuing to establish the sequence of events leading up to the multiple collisions.

The incident led to tension at the spot, with a large crowd gathering and surrounding the police station while demanding strict action against the driver. Police officials intervened to calm the situation before the woman was taken into custody. Authorities have since begun examining the circumstances surrounding the accident, including the vehicle's speed and the driver's actions immediately before and after the initial collision.

Police have also raised suspicion that the woman may have been driving under the influence of alcohol. However, authorities have said that this has not yet been established and that the result will depend on her medical examination. Deputy Commissioner of Police Annapurna Singh said the woman was in police custody and that her medical examination had been conducted, with officials awaiting the reports before deciding on further action.

The investigation remains underway, with police examining CCTV footage from the accident site and surrounding areas. The footage and medical examination results are expected to help investigators determine the circumstances of the crash and whether alcohol consumption played any role. Further action against the accused driver will be taken based on the evidence gathered during the investigation.
