The Ministry of Women and Child Development launched a revamped Mission Vatsalya portal on July 25, 2025, to streamline child protection services across India, Minister of State Savitri Thakur announced in the Lok Sabha during the Monsoon session. The integrated digital platform merges the Khoya-Paya and TrackChild portals, enabling seamless coordination among stakeholders like State Child Protection Societies, District Child Protection Units, Child Welfare Committees, Juvenile Justice Boards, and Child Care Institutions.
The upgraded portal aims to eliminate duplication, enhance efficiency, and improve monitoring through user-friendly dashboards for real-time case tracking and resource planning. Khoya-Paya facilitates parental reporting of missing children, while TrackChild maintains a live database to monitor services for found children. The platform integrates with the national toll-free child helpline 1098, the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Emergency Response Support System (ERSS-112), and the Women Helpline (181), ensuring rapid response to distress calls.
To support implementation, the ministry partnered with the Savitribai Phule National Institute of Women and Child Development (SPNIWCD) to train master trainers across all states and Union Territories. The portal aligns with Mission Vatsalya’s goal of rehabilitating vulnerable children, with 2,076 Child Care Institutions housing over 76,000 children as of 2023. The initiative addresses gaps in child protection, as India reported 1.5 lakh missing children in 2022, with 60% reunited via existing systems like TrackChild.
