Apple is reportedly working with LG on a new range of smart home accessories as it seeks to expand its connected home ecosystem. According to a Bloomberg report, the companies are jointly developing devices including a wired video doorbell, security cameras, a thermostat, a smart deadbolt lock, a floodlight camera and a temperature sensor. The products are expected to complement a new generation of Apple-designed home devices, including a smart home hub.
Although Apple and LG are reportedly developing the products together, the accessories are expected to be sold under the LG brand. LG would handle manufacturing and product support, while Apple could help shape the products’ design, features and engineering. The arrangement would allow Apple to expand its smart home ecosystem without taking on the full cost and complexity involved in manufacturing and supporting a wider range of accessories. Regulatory filings reportedly include names such as LG Video Doorbell Wired, LG Floodlight Cam, LG Outdoor Cam Plug-In, LG Indoor Cam Plug-In, LG Smart Deadbolt Lock, LG Smart Thermostat and LG Temperature Sensor.
The devices are expected to support Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, along with Thread and Matter, two smart home standards increasingly used across connected-device ecosystems. The reported smart lock could also support ultra-wideband technology, which would enable features such as automatically unlocking the door when an authorised user approaches. The combination of these accessories with Apple’s own home products could give users a more integrated system for managing security, climate and other household functions.

The reported partnership forms part of a broader effort by Apple to strengthen its position in the smart home market. The company is reportedly preparing three new home-focused products of its own: a smart home hub, an upgraded HomePod mini and a new TV set-top box. The devices are expected to form the core of an expanded ecosystem, with the LG accessories adding functions such as home security, access control and temperature management. The move is also being viewed as a reboot of Apple’s HomeKit platform, which has struggled to match the reach of Amazon’s Ring and Google’s Nest ecosystems.
Apple is expected to introduce its new home devices on October 13, while the LG accessories are reportedly likely to arrive several months later. The companies already have a long history of working together, with LG Display supplying screens for several Apple products and LG Electronics integrating Apple services into its televisions. Apple has also previously relied on third-party companies such as Belkin and Logitech to expand the range of accessories compatible with its ecosystem.
For LG, the reported partnership would represent a significant expansion of its presence in the smart home accessories market. The planned indoor camera would reportedly be the company’s first such product in nearly a decade, while the lineup would also include its first outdoor camera, thermostat, floodlight camera and doorbell in recent years. If launched as reported, the devices would give Apple a broader range of connected-home products while allowing LG to expand its smart home portfolio under its own brand.
