The Opposition Congress on Tuesday officially launched its "Gen Z for Change" campaign and constituted a state-level Professional Gen Z Committee. The strategic political initiative comes ahead of the upcoming multi-phase municipal and panchayat elections scheduled across the state this month. By introducing this specialized framework, the party aims to move beyond traditional electoral politics and establish a direct connection with the state's digitally active younger demographics.
The campaign is being spearheaded by the Social Media and Digital Platforms Department of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee. Department chairman Sumit Bhagasra stated that the primary objective of the initiative is to engage in direct interactions with students on college and university campuses. This grassroots outreach seeks to systematically map out and understand the unique structural concerns, professional aspirations, and policy suggestions of the emerging generation.
To build actionable momentum, the Congress plans to roll out free high-tech training workshops focused on artificial intelligence (AI), comprehensive skill-development programs, and digital empowerment initiatives. The state-level committee—comprising data analysts, tech entrepreneurs, and legal advisors—will offer robust support systems, including structured internship opportunities with industry experts and legal assistance for independent digital content creators. Additionally, both online and offline career counseling seminars will be organized to address pressing concerns regarding modern employment avenues.

The localized outreach will be further replicated by establishing corresponding Gen Z committees at the district level to ensure maximum geographic penetration. According to party leaders, the initiative draws inspiration from senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ongoing interaction programs with student bodies across the nation. Following the conclusion of the urban local body polls on September 14, the state unit will compile a comprehensive data report detailing the systemic feedback of Rajasthan’s youth, which will be submitted directly to central party leadership.
The launch of the "Gen Z for Change" campaign highlights a intensifying political tussle over the youth vote bank ahead of the critical local governance polls, where voting is scheduled for September 9 and 11. This structural shift reflects an evolving trend in state politics, recently amplified by former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, who advocated that more than 50 per cent of local body election tickets should be distributed directly to Gen Z and younger candidates. The strategic push is designed to build a solid alternative political narrative and cultivate fresh leadership channels looking toward the 2028 state assembly elections.
