Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has urged party workers across Uttar Pradesh to strengthen their booth-level organisation and ensure that no supporter’s vote is lost in the 2027 Assembly elections. Addressing party leaders and workers from different districts at the SP headquarters in Lucknow, Yadav said the organisation must remain united and work more effectively than it did during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He asked cadres to maintain close contact with voters, remain alert during the electoral process and ensure that the party’s support base is properly mobilised on polling day.

Yadav claimed that people across Uttar Pradesh were dissatisfied with the Bharatiya Janata Party government and wanted a change in the state. He accused the BJP of misgovernance, corruption, discrimination and injustice, while asserting that the PDA alliance of backward classes, Dalits and minorities remained united. Yadav alleged that the unity of these groups had unsettled the BJP and claimed that the ruling party was attempting to create divisions within the alliance. He told SP workers that they should remain vigilant against what he described as possible political conspiracies and avoid any mistakes that could result in the loss of votes.

The SP chief also outlined the party’s approach to its PDA strategy, describing it as progressive and focused on development, social harmony and inclusion. He asked workers to explain the party’s policies and schemes to voters while building relationships through direct engagement, empathy and trust. Yadav emphasised that booth-level organisation would be particularly important as the party prepares for the next Assembly election. He called on workers to maintain unity at the grassroots level and ensure that the party’s message reaches voters across different sections of society.

Agriculture was another major issue raised by Yadav during the meeting. He accused the BJP government of weakening agricultural markets established during the previous SP administration and claimed that farmers were not receiving adequate prices for their produce. He also alleged that middlemen continued to exploit cultivators and claimed that farmers faced difficulties in obtaining fertiliser. According to Yadav, farmers have repeatedly faced problems during fertiliser distribution seasons and have been forced to approach different authorities to meet their requirements. The BJP has previously faced political criticism over agricultural policies, making farmers an important constituency ahead of the 2027 polls.

Yadav also criticised the state’s healthcare infrastructure, describing the situation as poor and alleging that several medical institutions were struggling to provide adequate services. He claimed that the cancer institute in Lucknow had been poorly managed and argued that the situation was concerning as cancer cases continued to increase. He further alleged that medical colleges in several districts lacked sufficient treatment facilities and that many doctors’ positions remained vacant. Yadav also questioned the management of AIIMS institutions in Gorakhpur and Rae Bareli, using the healthcare sector to attack the BJP government’s record on public services.

The remarks signal an early intensification of the SP’s preparations for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, with the party placing particular emphasis on booth management and maintaining its social coalition. Yadav’s message to workers was focused on translating the party’s claimed support among voters into an effective electoral organisation. The SP will seek to build on its performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections while facing the BJP and other political forces in the state. With the Assembly election still ahead, booth-level mobilisation, alliance management and outreach to different social groups are likely to remain central to the SP’s strategy.
