Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday accused the Congress of pursuing vote-bank politics and alleged that the party had used poor, backward and Scheduled Caste communities for electoral gains. Reacting to questions from the media in Chandigarh, Saini referred to former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and claimed that a leader who supported the Punjab Congress during difficult times was now being sidelined by the party.

Saini said the treatment of Channi reflected what he described as Congress’s disregard for Dalit leaders and deprived sections of society. He called the situation unfortunate and alleged that the party had failed to provide genuine representation to communities it claims to support. The Congress has not issued an immediate response to the Haryana Chief Minister’s remarks.

On the issue of NEET paper leaks, Saini defended the steps taken by the Union government and accused the Congress and INDIA bloc parties of misleading young people on the matter. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government had prioritised the interests of students and taken strict action against those involved in examination irregularities. According to Saini, new laws and stricter enforcement measures had been introduced to make recruitment and examination systems more transparent.

The Haryana Chief Minister said previous governments lacked accountability when dealing with recruitment-related issues. He alleged that during earlier Congress administrations, examination processes were often affected by irregularities and candidates faced uncertainty over their future. Saini said the current government was committed to protecting the aspirations of young people and ensuring that those responsible for paper leaks faced consequences.

Responding to questions about the Punjab Assembly’s resolution on paper leaks, Saini questioned whether similar action had been taken by the Punjab government over alleged irregularities in recent examinations, including a pharmacy examination paper leak. He also raised concerns over recruitment examination results in Punjab, claiming that questions raised by candidates required answers from the state government.

Saini further targeted the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over recruitment issues, saying both parties should respond to concerns raised by young job aspirants. Referring to an earlier statement by AAP leader Manish Sisodia that Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains would resign if a paper leak occurred, Saini alleged that the lack of action over recent incidents showed a difference between political statements and actual accountability.
