The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has escalated its protest against Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy by addressing an open letter to Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi. Senior BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan Kumar, a close associate of party Working President KT Rama Rao, accused Reddy of repeatedly employing abusive and threatening language during public addresses and Assembly proceedings, thereby diminishing the dignity of constitutional positions.
In the letter, Sravan Kumar highlighted specific instances where Reddy allegedly made derogatory remarks against opposition leaders, former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, and village sarpanches. He further claimed that such inappropriate language was used even in events attended by schoolchildren. Additionally, the BRS Leader criticised the Congress Government for alleged misuse of public funds, irregularities in land acquisitions, and favouritism in governance.
The controversy originated from Reddy's statements during a heated Assembly debate last week, where he accused BRS Leaders of failing Telangana and warned that critics would be "skinned" and have their "tongues cut," while also using unparliamentary expressions. These remarks prompted immediate backlash, with former irrigation minister and BRS deputy floor leader T Harish Rao demanding an unconditional apology from the Chief Minister.

BRS Working President KT Rama Rao condemned Reddy's language as reckless and disrespectful but drew criticism himself for suggesting that Rahul Gandhi should be hanged over unfulfilled Congress promises in Telangana. The party has also submitted a privilege motion notice against the Chief Minister, signaling potential further escalation of political confrontations within the Assembly.
Sravan Kumar urged Rahul Gandhi, as Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, to intervene and ensure that the Congress-led government in Telangana adheres to constitutional values and maintains civility in public discourse. As political tensions rise, the episode continues to intensify rivalry between the ruling Congress and the opposition BRS in the state.
