Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Wednesday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 25 years in public office, describing the milestone as a matter of good fortune for the people of the state. Yadav participated virtually in Modi’s ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha’ from Ujjain as the Bharatiya Janata Party organised programmes across Madhya Pradesh to mark the occasion.
The programmes were held under the BJP’s ‘Seva Jyoti Sankalp’ initiative, with party workers and citizens gathering at various locations to listen to the Prime Minister’s address and highlight his governance and welfare initiatives. In his message, Yadav extended his congratulations to the people of Madhya Pradesh and praised Modi’s long tenure in public life.
In Indore, thousands of BJP workers and citizens gathered at the IDA Ground in Vijay Nagar for the programme. Workers from different Assembly constituencies reached the venue carrying the Tricolour and were led by their respective MLAs. After Modi’s address, Madhya Pradesh Minister and senior BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya administered a pledge on building a ‘Viksit Bharat’ to elected representatives and party workers.

The programme also featured the lighting of a ceremonial lamp, followed by Vijayvargiya carrying a torch to a newly constructed torch monument near the Vijay Nagar police station. BJP workers raised slogans in support of Modi before returning to their respective Assembly constituencies with symbolic torches. Similar events were organised at multiple locations across the state.
The BJP’s celebrations focused on Modi’s political journey, which began with his appointment as Gujarat Chief Minister in 2001 and continued with his tenure as Prime Minister from 2014. The party used the milestone to underline its emphasis on public service, welfare programmes and the broader vision of a developed India.
The celebrations also drew criticism from the Congress in Madhya Pradesh. Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar questioned the state government’s priorities and urged BJP workers visiting villages to assess issues such as roads, schools, hospitals, youth unemployment, farmers’ access to fertilisers and nutritional challenges among tribal children. He urged Chief Minister Mohan Yadav to focus on addressing problems affecting people in Madhya Pradesh, stressing that the state government remained accountable to its citizens.
