Indian Railways has cancelled and rescheduled several trains scheduled to arrive at New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations on October 10, 2026, amid expectations of severe traffic congestion in the national capital. The decision comes ahead of a proposed Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar. According to the Ministry of Railways, the precautionary measures are intended to minimise inconvenience to passengers who could face difficulties reaching their final destinations because of road congestion around the two major railway stations.
The cancellations apply to Mail and Express trains departing from their originating stations after 2 pm on October 9 and scheduled to arrive at New Delhi or Hazrat Nizamuddin between 4 am and 2 pm on October 10. Railway authorities said the decision was taken to prevent passengers from being stranded at the stations if road traffic disruptions affect onward travel. Passengers planning to travel to the capital during the affected period have been advised to check their train status before leaving for their stations.
Among the cancelled services are the 12301 Howrah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express and the 12313 Sealdah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express, both departing from West Bengal. Other affected trains include the 20155 Dr Ambedkar Nagar-New Delhi service, the 09309 Indore-Hazrat Nizamuddin train, the 12415 Indore-New Delhi Express, the 12247 Bandra Terminus-Hazrat Nizamuddin service and the 12957 Sabarmati-New Delhi Express. The cancellations affect passengers travelling from several regions towards the national capital.

Two additional trains have been rescheduled by five hours. The 12951 Mumbai Central-New Delhi Tejas Rajdhani Express, originally scheduled to depart Mumbai Central at 5 pm on October 9, will operate with a revised departure time. The 12953 Mumbai Central-Hazrat Nizamuddin service, scheduled to leave at 5.10 pm, has also been rescheduled by five hours. Passengers using these services should confirm the revised timings through official railway channels before travelling.
The proposed protest has also prompted heightened security arrangements in parts of Delhi. Police have warned against unauthorised gatherings and stated that restrictions under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita are in force in the New Delhi area. Authorities have cautioned that violations could lead to legal action. The demonstration is expected to draw attention to demands concerning Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the revision of electoral rolls.
Railway authorities have urged passengers to verify cancellations and revised schedules before beginning their journeys. The disruption is expected to affect several long-distance services arriving in Delhi during the specified hours, while trains terminating at other stations may operate under separate arrangements. Travellers should rely on official railway updates for the latest information about their services and make alternative arrangements if necessary.
