Students at a government secondary school in Narkatiaganj protested over the quality of the Mid-Day Meal before some female students raised allegations of inappropriate physical contact against a teacher. The incident took place on Tuesday at the Government Secondary School in Shivganj, Ward No. 7. The complaints have prompted the Education Department to examine both the quality of food being served at the school and the allegations made against the teacher.
The female students accused teacher Sanjay Pandey of inappropriate physical contact, describing the alleged conduct as “bad touch”. They also claimed that the matter had been reported earlier. However, the allegations have not been established and remain subject to inquiry. School principal Shakuntala rejected the complaints and described the allegations against the teacher as baseless.
The allegations emerged during a broader student protest over the food provided under the Mid-Day Meal programme. According to the students, the quality of the food served at the school was frequently poor. On Tuesday, the students refused to eat the meal and threw their plates in protest, leading to a disruption on the school premises. The protest subsequently brought attention to the separate complaint concerning the teacher.

After authorities were informed about the situation, personnel from the 112 police service reached the school. The police spoke with the students and intervened to bring the situation under control. The immediate disruption at the school was contained, while the complaints raised by the students were subsequently taken up by the Education Department for examination.
Block Education Officer Sanjay Kumar Singh said the allegations against the teacher would be investigated along with the complaint concerning the quality of the Mid-Day Meal. He said action would be taken according to the rules if the inquiry found any teacher responsible for wrongdoing. Singh also said that a teacher found guilty could be removed from the school, indicating that disciplinary action would depend on the findings of the investigation.
The allegations against Pandey remain unproven at this stage, with the students maintaining their complaint and the principal denying it. The Education Department’s inquiry is expected to establish the facts surrounding the students’ allegations as well as examine their concerns about the food being served. Until the investigation is completed, no conclusion can be drawn about the teacher’s conduct, while the school’s Mid-Day Meal complaint remains part of the same official inquiry.
