The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, criticizing his claims of a forthcoming “hydrogen bomb” revelation regarding alleged “vote chori” as baseless and irresponsible.
Speaking after Gandhi’s Vote Adhikar Yatra concluded in Patna, BJP leader and former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad accused the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha of insulting voters and undermining his position with reckless remarks. He dismissed Gandhi’s earlier “atom bomb” allegation about electoral roll irregularities in Karnataka as a “damp squib,” likening it to a failed Diwali firecracker.
Prasad alleged that Gandhi’s campaign stems from frustration over repeated electoral defeats and accused the Congress of historically abusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whom voters have consistently supported. “By alleging fraud and deceit behind the BJP’s victories under Modi’s leadership, the Congress leader has been insulting voters.
This is arrogance, and we will tell voters to punish him,” he stated. He also criticized Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav for aligning with Gandhi despite Congress’s weak presence in Bihar, questioning internal RJD dynamics and noting the absence of Yadav’s sister, Misa Bharti, from the Yatra’s closing event.
Defending the Special Intensive Review (SIR) of Bihar’s electoral rolls, which removed 22 lakh dead and eight lakh duplicate voters, Prasad argued that the opposition’s objections are driven by a desire to enable booth-capturing and allow infiltrators to vote. He predicted that the Yatra would have no impact on the upcoming Bihar assembly polls, citing BJP’s strong voter support in states like Haryana and Maharashtra.
The BJP’s sharp rebuttal underscores escalating political tensions as Gandhi’s campaign targets Modi and constitutional institutions, with Prasad asserting that voters will continue to back the ruling alliance.
