Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil development projects worth over ₹12,200 crore in Bihar and West Bengal on Friday, aimed at revolutionizing infrastructure, connectivity, and economic growth, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) announced. In Bihar, projects valued at ₹7,200 crore will span rail, road, fisheries, rural development, and IT, while West Bengal will see initiatives worth ₹5,000 crore in oil, gas, power, and transport sectors.
In Motihari, Bihar, Modi will launch rail projects, including automatic signalling on the Samastipur-Bachhwara line and doubling of Darbhanga-Thalwara and Samastipur-Rambhadrapur lines, costing over ₹580 crore. Road infrastructure will get a boost with the four-laning of the Ara bypass, enhancing connectivity between Ara-Mohania and Patna-Buxar highways. New Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) facilities in Darbhanga and Patna will foster IT exports and startup innovation.
Modi will also inaugurate fisheries projects under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, promoting aquaculture and rural employment. Four new Amrit Bharat trains will connect Patna, Motihari, Darbhanga, and Malda Town to major cities, improving regional travel. Additionally, ₹400 crore will be disbursed to 61,500 Self-Help Groups, and ₹160 crore to 40,000 rural housing beneficiaries under PMAY-Gramin.
In West Bengal, Modi will lay the foundation for a ₹1,950 crore BPCL City Gas Distribution project in Bankura and Purulia, providing PNG and CNG access while creating jobs. The Durgapur-Kolkata section of the Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga pipeline will supply natural gas to households, and pollution control systems at Durgapur and Raghunathpur power stations will promote cleaner energy, costing ₹1,457 crore. Rail and road projects will further enhance connectivity.
