Modi highlighted the government’s efforts since 2014, including skill training for 3 crore youth and plans to upgrade 1,000 ITIs while establishing five centres of excellence. He noted India’s transformation in education and its status as the fastest-growing major economy, with GDP projected to hit USD 5 trillion soon, up from USD 3.8 trillion. “As per the IMF, India’s economy has grown 66% in a decade,” he said.
The PM Internship Scheme was showcased as a key initiative to equip youth with practical skills, with a call for businesses to participate actively. In healthcare, Modi announced 10,000 new medical seats this year, aiming for 75,000 over five years, and urged industry investment in medical tourism to boost jobs. He also cited infrastructure status for tourism as a job-creation move.
Urban development received attention with Rs 1 lakh crore allocated to the Urban Challenge Fund, encouraging the real estate sector to focus on planned urbanization. Modi equated skill development with infrastructure in importance, spotlighting AI’s potential to add trillions to the economy. The Budget allocates Rs 500 crore for AI-driven education and research, alongside plans for a National Large Language Model to enhance AI capacity.
