The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued four show cause notices to Air India following the airline’s voluntary disclosures on June 20 and 21, citing multiple violations. The notices address breaches in cabin crew rest and duty norms, training regulations, and operational procedures.
Three notices stem from disclosures on June 20, involving infractions on four ultra-long-haul flights operated on April 27, 28, May 2, and other dates in 2024 and 2025, including issues with crew training and flight duty periods. A fourth notice, based on June 21 disclosures, pertains to three instances of cabin crew training and operational violations between April 2024 and May 2025.
Air India acknowledged the notices, pledging to respond within the stipulated period while emphasizing its commitment to safety. The airline has faced increased regulatory scrutiny, compounded by a tragic June 12, 2025, incident where an Air India Boeing 787-8 crashed after takeoff from Ahmedabad, killing 260 people, including 19 on the ground.
