The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly condemned the Bihar unit of the Indian National Congress for sharing an AI-generated video on September 10, which purportedly shows Prime Minister Narendra Modi's late mother criticizing his political actions in poll-bound Bihar. The video, posted on the Bihar Congress's official X handle, has sparked outrage among BJP leaders, who labeled it as "disgusting" and a new low in political discourse.
BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla took to X to express his disapproval, stating, "Bihar Congress crossed all limits with a disgusting video. This party has become gaaliwadi instead of gandhiwadi… mahila aur maatru shakti ka apman is Congress ki pehchaan... shameful." He further accused the Congress of not only defending but also justifying prior instances of alleged abuse directed at the Prime Minister’s late mother, Heeraben Modi. Poonawalla highlighted that Congress leader Tariq Anwar had previously defended similar actions, adding to the controversy.
Senior BJP leader Anurag Thakur echoed these sentiments during a press interaction in Patna, condemning both the Congress and its ally, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), for stooping to unprecedented levels of political mudslinging. "To mock someone’s mother, especially one who has passed away, from the land of Bihar, is shameful. The people of Bihar know these parties and will never forgive them for this insult," Thakur said. He predicted a "humiliating defeat" for the Congress and RJD in the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, emphasizing that the people of Bihar would respond decisively to this affront.

The controversy follows an earlier incident last month in Darbhanga, where a man allegedly abused PM Modi’s late mother during the 'Voter Adhikar Yatra,' an event organized by the Congress and RJD. Despite repeated attempts to seek comments, no Congress office bearer was available to respond to the allegations surrounding the AI-generated video.
The BJP’s sharp rebuke underscores the escalating tensions between the ruling party and the opposition as Bihar gears up for its assembly polls, with political rhetoric reaching new heights of contention.
