In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Assam Rifles seized 3.33 lakh methamphetamine tablets worth ₹112.40 crore in Mizoram’s Champhai district near the Myanmar border, a paramilitary statement said Saturday.
During a routine patrol in Zokhawthar village on Friday, personnel spotted two individuals carrying rucksacks. Upon inspection, the rucksacks revealed the massive haul of methamphetamine, a highly addictive stimulant.
The suspects fled across the Tiau river into Myanmar, evading capture. Authorities believe the consignment was intended for distribution in Champhai town.
