The makers of Drishyam 3 released the much-awaited trailer on Saturday, bringing back superstar Mohanlal as Georgekutty in the next chapter of the acclaimed crime thriller franchise directed by Jeethu Joseph. The trailer immediately reignited interest in the saga, hinting that the mystery surrounding Georgekutty’s past is far from over and that new revelations could challenge the fragile peace he has built for his family.
The trailer opens with a tense warning suggesting that both the police and sections of society are aware of the truth in the case linked to Georgekutty. Scenes of his isolated, mist-covered home set a suspenseful tone, while media voices describe him as an unusually private and intelligent individual who has consistently managed to stay ahead of investigators. Police officials in the background also acknowledge his sharpness, implying that earlier attempts to uncover the truth may not have been conclusive after all.
As the trailer progresses, attention shifts to Georgekutty’s family life, which appears strained under the weight of past events. In one emotional scene, his wife Rani George, played by Meena, questions whether their troubles are truly over, referencing promises made in the past. Georgekutty, however, remains silent, reflecting the growing uncertainty within the household and suggesting that unresolved fears continue to linger despite efforts to move on.

A key moment in the trailer shows Georgekutty responding to a probing question about “acid,” hinting at suppressed truths and psychological tension. He expresses fear about how his family would perceive him if they learned everything he had done, revealing internal conflict and guilt. This moment adds a deeper emotional layer to the character, suggesting that the burden of secrecy may be as heavy as the external investigation itself.
The final portion of the trailer intensifies the suspense as investigators and media personnel appear to uncover fresh evidence that could reopen the long-dormant case. Georgekutty is shown visibly disturbed after discovering something alarming on his phone, signalling that his carefully constructed life may once again be under threat. The teaser ends on this cliffhanger, reinforcing the franchise’s signature theme of truth, deception, and survival.
Drishyam 3 is the third instalment in the highly successful franchise that began in 2013, followed by its sequel in 2021. The film is produced by Antony Perumbavoor and continues to expand one of Indian cinema’s most popular thriller narratives. The Malayalam version’s success also led to adaptations in other languages, including Hindi, where Ajay Devgn played the lead role, with the third Hindi instalment slated for release later this year.
