Released on October 21 under the Maddock Films banner and directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Thamma has delivered a masterclass in sustained box-office dominance. After a stellar opening week that raked in Rs 108.4 crore, the film added a solid Rs 3 crore on its second Friday (Day 11), pushing the cumulative India net collection to an impressive Rs 111.4 crore, according to early estimates from Sacnilk. This steady performance on a regular working day underscores the film’s word-of-mouth strength and repeat value among family audiences.
Occupancy trends on October 31 further highlight the film’s grip on multiplexes and single-screens alike. The overall Hindi occupancy stood at 13.30 per cent, with night shows leading the charge at 21.73 per cent, followed by evening (13.20 per cent), afternoon (11.58 per cent), and morning (6.67 per cent) slots. The spike in late-night footfalls signals strong urban pull, while the balanced spread across showtimes indicates broad demographic appeal—crucial for a genre-blending horror-comedy.
As the fifth chapter in Maddock’s wildly successful Horror-Comedy Universe—following Stree, Stree 2, Bhediya, and Munjya—Thamma introduces a fresh vampire mythology laced with laugh-out-loud moments. Ayushmann Khurrana essays Alok Gupta, an ordinary man whose life spirals after a vampiric transformation, only to find unexpected romance with the centuries-old Tadaka, played by Rashmika Mandanna. The ensemble is elevated by heavyweights Paresh Rawal, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Faisal Malik, and Geeta Agarwal Sharma, whose comedic timing has been widely praised.

Rashmika, in particular, has opened up about the nuanced layers she brought to Tadaka. The actress revealed, “Tadaka’s just picking up emotions through the journey because it’s been like so many years that she’s been alive, but she’s also been in the forest. So for her, human emotions, humans are a fascinating species.” She added that she approached the role “like an animal” trying to mimic smiles, tears, and laughter observed in Alok—minute details that have resonated deeply with viewers.
Marking the maiden on-screen pairing of Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, Thamma continues its dream run and is poised to challenge more milestones in the coming weeks, especially with the festive season still in play.
