Gujarat is rapidly emerging as a technology hub with growth in semiconductor manufacturing, artificial intelligence (AI) and data centre infrastructure, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said on Friday. Addressing the ‘Viksit Gujarat Summit 2026’ at GIFT City, Patel said the state’s technology ecosystem is expanding alongside its strong manufacturing and renewable energy sectors.

Patel said Gujarat, which has already established itself as a manufacturing, automobile and green energy hub, is now moving towards becoming a major centre for advanced technology and digital infrastructure. He highlighted that three semiconductor plants have become operational in the state, creating a new industrial ecosystem and strengthening Gujarat’s position in the global technology sector.

The Chief Minister said the state government’s Global Capability Centre (GCC) and Data Centre Policy would encourage the development of large-scale data centres in Gujarat. He added that the central government’s tax incentives for data centres until 2047 would further support investments and boost the sector.

Patel also highlighted the AI Centre of Excellence at GIFT City, describing it as a platform connecting technology with industry and financial services. He said Gujarat’s policy-driven governance and business environment have helped attract investment, innovation and employment opportunities.

Referring to the NITI Aayog Investment Friendliness Index 2026, Patel said Gujarat ranked first in attracting foreign investment, receiving cumulative foreign direct investment of $73.9 billion between April 2020 and 2025. He said the state’s development vision focuses on economic growth, better quality of life and sustainable progress through initiatives in renewable energy, natural farming and environmental conservation.

Science and Technology Minister Arjun Modhwadia said Gujarat is witnessing rapid growth in emerging sectors such as space technology, electronics, biotechnology and artificial intelligence while continuing to strengthen traditional industries including pharmaceuticals, textiles and chemicals. He said the state has the infrastructure, financial capacity and entrepreneurial ecosystem to become a leading destination for sunrise industries in the coming years. Denmark’s Ambassador to India, Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen, also highlighted cooperation between the two countries in renewable energy, offshore wind power, green shipping, education and research.
