Honda Cars India is set to launch the new Honda ZR-V eHEV in the Indian market on May 22, marking the company’s return to the premium SUV segment. The upcoming hybrid SUV will arrive in India as a completely built-up unit (CBU) and is expected to become Honda’s flagship SUV offering in the country. Positioned above the Honda Elevate in Honda’s lineup, the ZR-V eHEV aims to strengthen the brand’s presence in the premium SUV market after a long gap.
The Honda ZR-V adopts a sportier and more urban-focused design language compared to Honda’s conventional SUVs. The SUV features sleek LED headlamps, L-shaped LED daytime running lights, and an illuminated Honda logo integrated into the front grille. International models also showcase chrome detailing, sporty bumper elements, functional air vents, and a honeycomb-style lower air intake. The India-spec version is expected to retain most of these design elements along with a coupe-inspired silhouette, flush roof rails, and a panoramic sunroof to enhance its premium appearance.
In terms of size, the Honda ZR-V measures 4,568 mm in length, 1,840 mm in width, and 1,620 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,657 mm. The SUV offers a ground clearance of 180 mm and a boot capacity of approximately 390 liters. Depending on the variant, the ZR-V is expected to ride on alloy wheels ranging between 17 inches and 19 inches. These proportions place the SUV in the premium midsize category, targeting buyers looking for a blend of practicality, performance, and upscale styling.

Inside the cabin, the Honda ZR-V is expected to feature a premium dual-tone interior with a layered dashboard layout and modern technology features. Reports suggest the SUV could offer a large touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.2-inch digital driver display, wireless charging, dual-zone climate control, and powered front seats with memory function. Additional features may include ambient lighting, a powered tailgate, and a 12-speaker Bose sound system, while physical buttons and controls are expected to remain for easier usability during driving.
Safety and driver assistance features are also likely to be a major highlight of the SUV. The Honda ZR-V is expected to come equipped with six airbags, Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), ISOFIX child-seat mounts, and a rear-view camera. Internationally, the SUV has been positioned as a premium family-oriented vehicle that balances comfort with advanced safety technologies, and Honda is expected to follow a similar approach for the Indian market.
Powering the Honda ZR-V eHEV will reportedly be a 2.0-liter four-cylinder strong-hybrid petrol engine paired with an e-CVT automatic gearbox. The hybrid setup is expected to produce around 184 hp and 315 Nm of combined torque output, delivering both performance and fuel efficiency. Globally, the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in around eight seconds. In India, the Honda ZR-V is expected to be priced between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom), where it will compete with premium SUVs such as the Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tiguan, and Jeep Meridian.
