Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis felicitated the Indian blind women’s cricket team at his office on Thursday, celebrating their historic victory in the inaugural T20 Blind Cricket World Cup. He congratulated the players for their outstanding performance and resilience, calling it a moment of immense pride for the nation.
The Chief Minister lauded the team’s determination, discipline, and courage, describing their success as an inspiration for aspiring athletes, particularly young girls with visual impairments. He emphasized the importance of inclusion and the recognition of talent in all sections of society.
Fadnavis assured full support to the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) and Samarthanam Trust for the development of blind cricket in the country. He also promised a government job to vice-captain Ganga Kadam, who hails from Maharashtra, as a gesture of encouragement and recognition.

In a special gesture, the Chief Minister presented iPhones to the players and reiterated the state government’s commitment to supporting visually impaired cricketers. G.K. Mahantesh, Chairman of CABI, expressed gratitude for the felicitation, stating that the recognition sends a powerful message of inclusion and will motivate players to achieve even greater heights. He added that such encouragement inspires countless visually impaired girls across India to dream big.
The blind women’s cricket team thanked Chief Minister Fadnavis for the warm reception and support, describing the meeting as a memorable milestone in their journey. The players emphasized that this recognition will serve as a strong boost for the future growth of blind cricket in India.
