The Karnataka BJP on Friday observed National Handloom Day at its state headquarters, Jagannath Bhavan, in Bengaluru, where party leaders felicitated professional weavers and highlighted welfare initiatives introduced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government for the handloom sector. The event focused on recognising the contribution of weavers and promoting traditional crafts.
Addressing the gathering, BJP Karnataka President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra said the Centre has taken several measures to improve the economic condition of weavers through welfare schemes, skill development programmes and market support initiatives. He also spoke about Prime Minister Modi’s initiatives, including the promotion of khadi, Make in India, Skill India, Mudra loans and other welfare programmes. Vijayendra said rural development is essential for achieving the vision of a developed India and that villages must progress alongside urban areas.
Several BJP leaders, including MLA Shailendra Beldale, MLC Keshav Prasad, former MLA M.D. Lakshminarayan and members of the party’s weavers’ cell, attended the National Handloom Day programme.
