In a sweeping crackdown, joint operations by the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, CRPF, BSF, ITBP, and Manipur Police have dealt a major blow to militancy in Manipur.
Over the past few days, security forces recovered 27 illegal arms, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), grenades, ammunition, and war-like stores across six districts: Churachandpur, Tengnoupal, Imphal East, Senapati, Kakching, and Bishnupur. The haul included AK-series rifles, self-loading rifles, sub-machine guns, .303 rifles, single-barrel rifles, modified long-range mortars, and improvised mortars, a defence spokesperson revealed.
In addition, 16 militants from various hill and valley-based insurgent groups were apprehended. The operations also yielded a pistol, mobile phones, two-wheelers, and cash. All seized items and detained cadres have been handed over to Manipur Police for further investigation.

These coordinated efforts underscore the security forces' relentless commitment to restoring peace in the state, the spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles launched Agniveer registration drives under the Agnipath Scheme in Tengnoupal, near the Myanmar border. Informative sessions guided youths in villages on eligibility, selection, and benefits of joining the armed forces.
With enthusiastic participation, especially from Moreh, the initiative marks a milestone in engaging Manipur’s youth for national service. Assam Rifles pledged ongoing support through mentorship and training resources. These dual efforts—curbing insurgency and empowering youth—highlight a strategic push for stability and opportunity in Manipur.
