AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami launched a scathing attack on the ruling DMK government, accusing it of failing to protect women and girls in Tamil Nadu amid rising crime rates.
Speaking at a rally in Nagapattinam on Saturday, as part of his statewide campaign to "protect people and redeem Tamil Nadu," the former Chief Minister claimed that criminals are operating with impunity under DMK's rule.
Palaniswami highlighted a recent case, stating, "The culprit who allegedly raped a ten-year-old girl in Gummidipoondi remains at large. Young girls, women, and even the elderly are not safe under this regime." He questioned the crowd, "Do you want such a government to continue?" The audience responded with a resounding "no."

At Vedaranyam, known for its historic salt satyagraha, Palaniswami declared that Tamil Nadu’s people are "disillusioned" with the DMK and ready for a new "satyagraha" to oust the party in the 2026 Assembly elections.
Earlier, Palaniswami visited the Basilica of Our Lady of Health in Velankanni, offering prayers and lighting a candle. During a roadshow in Nagapattinam, he respectfully paused his campaign to allow Muslims in the area to complete their evening prayers, showcasing his commitment to communal harmony.
