Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed voters in Bihar through virtual rallies in Gopalganj and Samastipur on Saturday, presenting the upcoming assembly elections as a decisive contest between the developmental agenda of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and the return of lawlessness under the RJD-led opposition. He emphasized that the NDA alliance stands for progress, while the opposition represents a regression to the era of "jungle raj" marked by crime and instability.
In Gopalganj, the home district of RJD leader Lalu Prasad, Shah highlighted the excesses during the tenure of Sadhu Yadav, the estranged brother of former Chief Minister Rabri Devi. He referenced incidents such as the alleged forcible seizure of vehicles from a showroom in 1999 and Yadav’s association with the Shilpi Gautam murder case, underscoring that local residents remain acutely aware of such actions. Shah noted that Gopalganj has consistently rejected the RJD since 2002 and urged voters to continue this trend to safeguard the state’s future.
Shah also recalled the violent caste conflicts in central Bihar during RJD rule, citing massacres in specific villages amid clashes between Naxal groups and private militias. He outlined key NDA manifesto commitments, including phased financial support of up to Rs 2 lakh for 1.41 crore women in Jeevika self-help groups, an increase in annual farmer assistance from Rs 6,000 to Rs 9,000 for 27 lakh beneficiaries, and the revival of all closed sugar mills within five years, reinforcing the alliance’s focus on economic empowerment and infrastructure.

Addressing the Samastipur rally, Shah criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for allegedly attempting to protect infiltrators through the Voter Adhikar Yatra. He affirmed the government’s resolve to remove every infiltrator via the Special Intensive Revision exercise, welcoming the Election Commission’s nationwide directive. Additionally, he announced the Rs 85 crore renovation of Punaura Dham in Sitamarhi, the birthplace of Goddess Sita, with completion assured within two years to enhance religious tourism.
With the elections approaching, Shah’s statements have sharpened the political divide, positioning the NDA as the guardian of stability and growth against the opposition’s record of disorder. The electorate now faces a clear decision on Bihar’s path forward.
