Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police Prashant Kumar visited the Ram temple in Ayodhya on Sunday to evaluate security and logistical arrangements for the upcoming Ram Navami festival.
Ram Navami celebrates the birth of Lord Rama, the seventh avatar of Lord Vishnu, revered as the epitome of righteousness and virtue in the epic Ramayana. Observed on the ninth day (Navami) of the Chaitra month’s waxing phase (Shukla Paksha) in the Hindu lunar calendar, it typically falls in March or April. In 2025, it begins on March 30.
The festival holds special importance in Ayodhya, believed to be Rama’s birthplace, where devotees flock to temples, especially the newly consecrated Ram Mandir, to offer prayers and participate in festivities.
With an anticipated turnout exceeding 50 lakh devotees, the administration is on high alert to ensure a seamless celebration.
Kumar, after offering prayers at the Ram temple and Shri Hanuman Garhi Mandir, inspected ongoing construction work at the temple site and assessed facilities being prepared for pilgrims alongside local officials.
He closely examined the CCTV surveillance network around the complex and reviewed comprehensive plans for security and crowd management to accommodate the massive influx. The police chief’s visit underscores the priority given to safety and order, with extensive preparations underway to handle the festival’s scale and significance.
