A devastating accident on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Uttar Pradesh claimed the lives of two Thai nationals, Anan (35) and Sakulsukh (40), on the evening of October 16, 2025, police reported. The incident occurred in the Bangarmau area as the men, accompanied by Prokob Wangsombun, a Thai-origin woman residing in Shravasti, were traveling to Delhi following a work-related meeting. The tragedy has cast a spotlight on the perils of roadside stops on high-speed expressways.
According to Circle Officer Santosh Kumar Singh, the duo had parked their car on the roadside to relieve themselves when an oncoming vehicle suffered a sudden tyre burst. The out-of-control car struck the men, dragging them several meters before veering into a ditch. Wangsombun, who has lived in a Shravasti temple for 15 years, was unharmed. The victims were rushed to a nearby Community Health Centre, where they were pronounced dead due to severe injuries.
The driver and two passengers of the vehicle involved in the collision escaped without injuries and are assisting police inquiries. Authorities have completed necessary legal formalities, and the victims’ bodies have been sent for postmortem examination. The police are investigating the incident, including reviewing the condition of the vehicle and any available CCTV footage to determine contributing factors.
