Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday congratulated archer Chikitha Taniparthi after she won two gold medals at the 2026 Asian Games. Chikitha secured gold in the compound women's team event and later partnered with Sahil Jadhav to win the mixed team title, earning praise from the Chief Minister for her achievement.
Chikitha won the women's compound team gold alongside Vennam Jyothi Surekha and Prithika Pradeep. Revanth Reddy congratulated the trio and said their performance had brought pride to both India and Telangana. He highlighted Chikitha's perseverance and preparation, describing the achievement as an inspiration for young athletes pursuing careers in sport.
Chikitha and Sahil Jadhav then claimed the mixed compound archery gold after a closely contested final against South Korea. The Indian pair prevailed in a shoot-off after the match ended level at 157-157 against South Korea's Park Jungyoon and Choi Yonghee. The victory also secured India a quota place for the compound mixed team event at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, where the discipline is set to make its Olympic debut.

The Chief Minister said Chikitha's two gold medals would mark an important achievement in Telangana's sporting history. He also congratulated her parents and coaches for identifying her talent and supporting her development. Chikitha, who hails from Peddapalli, was praised for her determination and performance on the international stage.
Revanth Reddy extended his congratulations to Chikitha's teammates and to Indian athletes competing at the Asian Games, including those who have won medals across different disciplines. He expressed hope that the performances of Indian sportspersons would encourage more young people to take up sports and pursue excellence at national and international competitions.
Telangana Sports and Youth Services Minister Vakiti Srihari also congratulated Chikitha on her double-gold achievement. He said her performance would serve as an inspiration to athletes across the state and also spoke with her father, Srinivas Rao, over the phone to convey his congratulations. The state leadership extended its wishes to Chikitha and her teammates for their future competitions and continued success.
