The 79th Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort prominently highlighted the success of Operation Sindoor, the Indian Armed Forces’ decisive military campaign launched 100 days ago to dismantle terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). Marking the nation’s resolve and progress under the theme of “Naya Bharat,” the event featured special artworks and decorations celebrating the operation’s achievements.
Official invitation cards issued to guests bore the Operation Sindoor logo alongside an image of the Chenab Bridge, symbolizing India’s engineering prowess and vision for a developed nation by 2047. The Ministry of Defence emphasized that the celebrations commemorated both the military victory and India’s ongoing journey toward prosperity and security.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the celebrations and addressed the nation from the historic Red Fort ramparts. The venue was adorned with vibrant posters and thematic installations, including silhouettes of armed forces personnel symbolizing their role as guardians of the nation. Approximately 2,500 National Cadet Corps cadets and ‘My Bharat’ volunteers participated by forming the “Naya Bharat” logo at Gyanpath.
The military’s precision strikes, which destroyed nine terror camps in May 2025 in response to the Pahalgam attack, were underscored as a defining moment in the nation’s security efforts. The Chenab Bridge, inaugurated earlier this year, was showcased as a testament to India’s ambition and infrastructural achievements.
Adding to the patriotic fervour, music bands from the Indian Armed Forces and paramilitary forces performed at over 140 locations across the country, bringing rhythm and grandeur to the Independence Day festivities. The event at the Red Fort welcomed around 5,000 special guests, including athletes from international sporting events, exemplary farmers, children excelling in academic competitions, and frontline workers such as sanitation and Anganwadi personnel.
These celebrations united the spirit of national security, cultural pride, and socio-economic progress, reinforcing the vision of a secure, prosperous, and self-reliant Naya Bharat.
