AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday dismissed opposition claims of replacing Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, asserting that Mann would complete his five-year term and beyond.
Marking three years of AAP’s rule in Punjab, Kejriwal identified drugs and corruption as the state’s “biggest problems,” vowing a united fight for justice alongside Mann. The leaders offered prayers at the Golden Temple, Bhagwan Valmiki Tirth Sthal, and Sri Durgiana Mandir in Amritsar to celebrate the milestone.
Kejriwal, fresh from a 10-day Vipassana retreat in Hoshiarpur, said, “On March 16, 2022, Mann saab took over… Today we came here to seek the blessings of Guru Maharaj. In three years, they guided us and gave us the strength to continue serving people.”
He added, “Three crore people of Punjab have come together to wage war against drugs and corruption… this is a battle for ‘nyay.’” Refuting rumors of Mann’s ouster—fueled by Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa’s claim that 32 AAP MLAs were ready to defect—Kejriwal affirmed, “Mann saab will complete five years, you do not need to worry… he will complete the next five years as well.”
Mann highlighted achievements like 52,000 government jobs, free electricity for 90% of households, and Rs 94,000 crore in investments.
He touted acquiring the Goindwal Power Plant and resuming Pachwara coal supplies as historic moves, claiming, “The work that has been done in these three years has not been done even in the last 70 years.” Both leaders pledged to eradicate drugs and fulfill their vision of a prosperous ‘Rangla Punjab,’ leaning on public trust to drive their agenda forward.
