AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Tiruchirappalli airport on Saturday night, marking their first interaction since the AIADMK-BJP electoral alliance was renewed in April 2024. The brief meeting, described by Palaniswami as “excellent” on a pro-AIADMK channel, occurred as he welcomed Modi, who arrived from Tuticorin after launching projects worth Rs 4,900 crore.
The meeting holds political weight as AIADMK eyes a solo majority in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, while BJP insists on a shared NDA government if victorious. TMC (Moopanar) leader G.K. Vasan also greeted Modi at the airport.
Palaniswami’s warm reception underscores efforts to strengthen ties within the NDA, despite differing visions for 2026. The interaction, though short, signals ongoing coordination between the allies as Tamil Nadu’s political landscape evolves ahead of the crucial polls.
