A heart-wrenching incident in Rajasthan’s Deeg district claimed the life of three-year-old Sarika, who succumbed to severe burn injuries on Wednesday night after falling into a pot of boiling milk.
The toddler passed away in a Jaipur hospital, where she had been battling for survival since the accident occurred on Tuesday evening in her home in Kaman town’s Agma colony.
According to her grandfather, Harinarayan, Sarika was startled by a cat on the roof and began running in panic. In her haste, she collided with a vessel of hot milk placed near a stove, toppling it and falling into the scalding liquid.
Her family rushed her to the government hospital in Kaman, but her critical condition prompted transfers—first to RBM Hospital in Bharatpur, then to Jaipur for advanced care. Despite medical efforts, she could not be saved.
Sarika’s father, an Army soldier stationed in Jammu, was not home at the time of the tragedy. Police have registered a case under accidental death provisions and are investigating, though no foul play is suspected.
The incident has left the tight-knit community in shock, mourning the loss of the young child in such a freak mishap.
