Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Tuesday said anyone who harms or molests women in the state would face action within 24 hours. Addressing a ‘Yuva Samvad’ programme at Jamuhar in Rohtas district, he spoke about women’s safety, law and order and development. Choudhary said the assurance was being given to women across Bihar in his capacity as Chief Minister.
Referring to five incidents whose videos had surfaced from different parts of Bihar, Choudhary said immediate action had been taken in those cases. He also attributed the increasing participation of women in the workforce to the governance of the NDA. The Chief Minister contrasted the NDA and BJP’s approach to political power with that of the Opposition, asserting that his alliance viewed power as a means of serving the public.
Choudhary also referred to the situation in Bihar before 2005, recalling that parts of Rohtas and Kaimur had faced the activities of dacoits and that people were once apprehensive about travelling between Kaimur and Ara. He said the situation had changed considerably and reiterated his assurance of action within 24 hours against those who target women. His remarks came amid continuing political debate over law and order in the state.
