In a major leap for international education in India, three premier Australian universities have received the green light to set up full-fledged campuses across Indian cities, officials confirmed Tuesday.
Marking the fifth anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP), the University Grants Commission (UGC) has granted Letters of Intent (LoI) to Western Sydney University, Victoria University, and La Trobe University to establish their Indian branches.
Western Sydney University will launch its Indian campus in Greater Noida, offering programs such as BA in Business Analytics, BA in Business Marketing, and MBAs in Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Supply Chain Management.

Victoria University, renowned for blending higher education with vocational training, is set to open in Noida. Its course offerings will include undergraduate degrees in Business, Cyber Security, and Data Science, and postgraduate degrees like MBA and Master’s in IT.
Meanwhile, La Trobe University will break ground in Bengaluru, with a strong focus on future-ready courses like Business (Finance, Marketing, Management), Computer Science (AI, Software Engineering), and Public Health.
This marks a landmark moment under the UGC’s new regulations allowing foreign universities to operate independently in India—ushering in a new era of global academic collaboration.
