India and Thailand discussed strengthening cooperation in digital technologies, combating online scams and integrating digital ecosystems to make travel more convenient for tourists. The discussions took place on Monday during a meeting between India’s Ambassador to Thailand Puneet Agrawal and Thailand’s Minister of Digital Economy and Society Chaichanok Chidchob.
According to the Indian Embassy in Thailand, the two sides exchanged views on expanding collaboration under an existing bilateral agreement on digital technologies. They also discussed sharing experiences and practices to tackle online scams, an area of growing concern as digital services and cross-border online activity expand.
The meeting also focused on integrating digital ecosystems to facilitate tourists travelling between the two countries. Improved digital cooperation could support smoother access to services for visitors while strengthening broader technological engagement between India and Thailand.

The discussions form part of a series of recent diplomatic engagements aimed at deepening the India-Thailand Strategic Partnership. Last month, Agrawal met Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Phipat Ratchakitprakarn to discuss stronger maritime, air and road connectivity, along with closer people-to-people ties and tourism cooperation.
Agrawal has also held discussions with senior Thai officials on trade, investment, public health, traditional medicine and other areas of mutual interest. On July 16, he met Urasa Mongkolnavin, Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs at Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to discuss high-level visits and measures to further strengthen bilateral relations.
The ambassador also met Thailand Trade Representative Chutintorn Gongsakdi at the Government House, where discussions focused on expanding trade and investment ties, identifying complementary areas and addressing tariff and non-tariff barriers. India and Thailand elevated their relationship to a Strategic Partnership during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bangkok in April 2025, providing a broader framework for cooperation across technology, connectivity, tourism, trade and other sectors.
