Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has launched the ‘Green Hydrogen Valley’ initiative, positioning the state to host India’s largest ecosystem for green hydrogen production and its derivatives, according to an official release on Monday.
The ambitious project, unveiled following a two-day Green Hydrogen Summit in Amaravati, aims to drive research, development, and capacity building in green hydrogen technologies. Partnering with industry and academia, the state will focus on production, storage, distribution, and applications in industries, transport, and power generation, while establishing advanced testing facilities.
Andhra Pradesh has set bold targets: achieving 2 GW of electrolyser manufacturing capacity by 2027, scaling to 5 GW by 2029, and producing 1.5 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) of green hydrogen by 2029. The state also plans to develop green energy corridors to evacuate 25 GW of renewable energy and reduce production and deployment costs by 2029.
