Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party (JSP) leader Pawan Kalyan on Monday criticised the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) and its supporters, alleging that the group’s activities were promoting divisiveness and could harm the country’s unity. His remarks came during a party meeting in Delhi, held shortly after actor Prakash Raj expressed support for CJP at a protest in Bengaluru.
The controversy surrounding the CJP has intensified in recent days, with the organisation staging protests across multiple cities over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations, including the NEET paper leak issue. The group has drawn attention for attracting support from public figures, further amplifying its visibility in political and media circles.
During the meeting, Pawan Kalyan referred to the CJP in strong terms, cautioning party workers against engaging with what he described as divisive movements. He suggested that individuals or groups with limited understanding of the country’s political framework could unintentionally weaken national unity by promoting fragmentation and discord.

He used a metaphor drawn from Telugu literature, referencing the Sumathi Satakam, to explain his point, stating that even small or seemingly insignificant elements can have a disproportionate impact. He compared this to what he described as the influence of groups with “small minds” whose collective actions, he argued, could still affect national integrity if left unchecked.
Pawan Kalyan further said that the party meeting’s agenda included addressing the rise of such movements, urging his party members to remain cautious and not become involved in activities that could contribute to social or political division. He emphasised that the focus should remain on constructive political engagement rather than participation in what he termed disruptive campaigns.
The remarks come amid heightened political debate over student-led protests linked to exam-related grievances, with different political and cultural figures taking contrasting positions on the issue. While supporters of CJP have framed their movement as a response to systemic failures in education and recruitment, critics, including Kalyan, have raised concerns about its broader political implications.
