Television Actor Sanchita Ugale, best known for her roles in popular Hindi television serials including Kumkum Bhagya and Wagle Ki Duniya – Nayi Peedhi Naye Kisse, allegedly died by suicide at her residence in Maharashtra’s Palghar district, police said on Monday. She was 22 years old. The incident has sent shockwaves through the television industry, where she was regarded as a young emerging talent.
According to police officials, the incident occurred on Sunday evening around 7 pm at her home in the Nallasopara area of Palghar district. Ugale was reportedly alone at the time. Preliminary information suggests she allegedly hanged herself from a ceiling fan inside her residence. The matter came to light after family members alerted the police, prompting officers to reach the spot and begin initial proceedings.
A police team conducted an on-site inspection soon after being informed. Officials said that no suicide note was recovered from the premises, and there were no immediate signs of forced entry or external disturbance. The absence of any written explanation has made it difficult for investigators to determine the exact circumstances or triggers that may have led to the incident at this stage of the probe.

Authorities have registered a case of accidental death and initiated a formal inquiry in accordance with standard procedure. The body has been sent to a government hospital for postmortem examination, which is expected to provide further clarity on the cause and time of death. Police officials said the investigation remains open and will include statements from family members, friends, and colleagues, as well as a review of her recent activities.
Ugale’s father has informed the Achole police that the family does not suspect any foul play in connection with her death and has not held anyone responsible. The family’s statement has been recorded as part of the ongoing investigation. Officials have said that while no criminal angle has emerged so far, all possibilities will be examined until the inquiry is concluded.
Sanchita Ugale had worked in several television productions and was known for her role as Diya Tandon in Kumkum Bhagya, one of India’s long-running daily soaps. She had also appeared in Wagle Ki Duniya – Nayi Peedhi Naye Kisse, which further contributed to her visibility in the television industry. Colleagues and members of the entertainment fraternity have expressed shock over her sudden death, describing her as a young performer with growing potential in the industry.
