Comedian Samay Raina has donated ₹10 lakh to the Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to support communities affected by severe flooding across the state. His contribution follows relief initiatives involving actors Randeep Hooda and Bhumi Pednekar, who travelled to flood-hit parts of Assam and participated in the distribution of essential supplies to affected families.

The Assam Chief Minister’s Office acknowledged Raina’s contribution through a post on X. The official account shared an image showing the bank transaction made through the Real Time Gross Settlement system and confirmed that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had recognised the ₹10 lakh donation. The government said such contributions would strengthen ongoing relief and rehabilitation operations.

Assam continues to face widespread disruption from the floods, with more than 1.55 lakh people remaining affected. According to figures cited by PTI, this year’s flood-related death toll has reached 98, while 1,55,849 residents were still dealing with the impact of the deluge. Golaghat was the worst-affected district, with 58,750 people impacted, followed by Sivasagar and Jorhat.

The number of affected residents had declined from more than 1.68 lakh people across 15 districts on Thursday, but significant relief requirements remained. Flooding has disrupted homes, transport and access to basic supplies in several areas. Government agencies, voluntary organisations and individual contributors have been working to provide food, shelter, household materials and other assistance while longer-term rehabilitation efforts continue.

Actor Randeep Hooda visited flood-affected districts and joined a relief distribution programme organised by a non-governmental organisation in Sivasagar. In a video shared online, he was seen travelling by boat, walking through knee-deep water and delivering kitchen essentials to residents. Hooda urged the public to contribute towards providing relief, food, shelter and essential supplies to families affected by the disaster.

Bhumi Pednekar also travelled to Assam with the Bharat Disaster Relief Foundation and joined teams working in inundated communities. Videos showed her walking through floodwater and using boats to reach homes surrounded by water while distributing assistance. She later shared images with affected villagers and emphasised that recovery depends on aid reaching communities. Raina’s financial contribution adds to the support extended by public figures during the crisis.
