In a chilling act of domestic violence in Hyderabad's Nallakunta area, Venkatesh, a resident originally from Huzurabad in Nalgonda district, allegedly doused his wife Triveni with petrol and set her ablaze inside their home. The attack was fueled by his long-standing suspicions regarding her character, escalating a pattern of harassment into a fatal assault witnessed by the couple's two young children.
As Triveni screamed in agony, her daughter courageously attempted to intervene and rescue her mother from the flames. In a further display of brutality, Venkatesh reportedly shoved the girl into the fire as well, endangering her life. Neighbors, drawn by the distraught cries echoing from the house, quickly mobilized, extinguishing the flames and rushing both victims to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.
Triveni, who had suffered extensive and critical burn injuries, tragically succumbed to her wounds soon after reaching medical care. Her daughter, fortunately, sustained only minor burns and is now on the path to recovery under medical supervision. The couple's love marriage, once a source of hope, had deteriorated into a cycle of accusations and abuse that ultimately culminated in this devastating tragedy.

The backdrop to the crime reveals a history of turmoil: Venkatesh's frequent paranoia led to repeated quarrels and emotional torment for Triveni. Overwhelmed by the relentless harassment, she had recently sought refuge at her parental home in Huzurabad. Persuaded by his assurances of reform, she returned to their Hyderabad residence, only for the promises to prove hollow as the fatal incident unfolded mere days later.
Acting promptly, Nallakunta police registered a murder case against Venkatesh, who fled immediately after committing the act. Through an intensive manhunt, authorities apprehended him within 12 hours of the crime. The investigation continues to uncover further details surrounding this grave instance of gender-based violence and its impact on the surviving family members.
