In a horrifying incident that has rocked Odisha's Mayurbhanj district, a minor girl was allegedly kidnapped by her boyfriend and four accomplices, who then attempted to gang-rape her in a secluded forest. The incident, which unfolded on August 4, has sparked outrage and raised serious concerns about safety in the region.
According to Banamali Barik, Inspector-in-Charge of Udala police station, the victim was lured by her boyfriend, identified as Prajnasu Das Babu, under the guise of a sightseeing trip while she was en route to her tuition classes. The group, consisting of Prajnasu and his four friends, took the girl to a nearby forested area with sinister intentions. There, they attempted to sexually assault her, but the brave minor managed to escape their clutches and reach the safety of her home.
Upon learning of the traumatic ordeal, the girl's family promptly filed a complaint at Udala police station, accusing Prajnasu Das Babu and his accomplices of kidnapping and attempted gang rape. The victim's statement has been recorded, providing crucial details to aid the investigation. Authorities acted swiftly, arresting Prajnasu Das Babu, who has since been presented in court. However, the other four suspects remain at large, prompting an intensive police manhunt to apprehend them.
