The Jammu & Kashmir Crime Branch has filed a charge sheet against four individuals in connection with a high-profile land fraud case involving Rs 53 lakh. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch Kashmir presented the charge sheet before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, under FIR No. 23/2025. The accused are alleged to have orchestrated a systematic scheme to cheat the complainant in a land sale transaction.
The accused—Tariq Ahmad Hajam, Ghulam Hassan Mir, Mohd Sultan Mir alias Sulla, and Abdul Razaq Mir, all residents of Barthana Qamarwari, Srinagar—have been booked under Sections 420 and 120-B of the Ranbir Penal Code. The charges relate to cheating and criminal conspiracy in a case that has shaken local real estate dealings.
Investigations revealed that the accused deceitfully collected Rs 53 lakh from the complainant and his father under the pretext of selling a 2.09-kanal plot in Estate Barthana. However, they allegedly sold the same land to other parties and even transferred portions to family members, demonstrating a deliberate and premeditated plan to defraud the victims.

With the charge sheet now filed, the case is ready for judicial adjudication. The EOW reiterated its commitment to protecting citizens from economic offences and highlighted that transparent, professional investigations remain a cornerstone of justice in financial fraud cases across the region.
