In a devastating incident, 61-year-old property dealer Kuldeep Tyagi, battling cancer, fatally shot his 57-year-old wife, Anshu Tyagi, before turning his licensed pistol on himself at their Radha Kunj Society home in Raj Nagar Extension on Wednesday.
The tragedy, reported around 11 am, left their family shattered, with police recovering a poignant suicide note detailing Kuldeep’s motives.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rural) Rajesh Kumar said the couple was found in a pool of blood—Anshu on the bed, Kuldeep on the floor.

The note revealed Kuldeep’s hidden cancer diagnosis, stating, “I’m suffering from cancer, and my family doesn’t know. I don’t want to waste money on treatment with uncertain survival. I’m taking my wife because we vowed to stay together forever. This is my choice alone—no one, especially my children, is to blame.”
The couple’s two sons, upstairs at the time, rushed down after hearing gunshots and took their parents to Mariam Hospital, where both were declared dead. Police have seized the pistol and sent the bodies for post-mortem, with forensic teams examining the scene.
The incident has sparked grief and debate, with locals highlighting mental health and financial pressures on cancer patients. Kuldeep’s decision, while deeply personal, underscores the need for better support systems. Investigations continue, but police ruled out foul play, respecting the family’s plea for privacy amid their profound loss.
