In a startling discovery, Jammu and Kashmir police, in collaboration with the Border Security Force (BSF), recovered a packet containing 400 grams of narcotics in Kathua district, suspected to have been smuggled across the border via drone.
The seizure occurred in the Hiranagar area on Tuesday evening, following a tip-off from vigilant locals who reported a suspicious packet wrapped in willow cover. Authorities swiftly responded, locating and securing the illicit consignment.
Preliminary investigations suggest the narcotics were dropped by a drone originating from across the border, highlighting the growing use of technology in cross-border smuggling. The police have registered an FIR and launched extensive search operations in the area to ensure no additional contraband was dropped. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shobhit Saxena emphasized that heightened vigilance and ongoing searches are in place to thwart such illicit activities.
This incident underscores the challenges faced by security forces in combating innovative smuggling methods along the sensitive border region. Authorities are urging residents to remain alert and report any suspicious activities to prevent further infiltration of narcotics into the region.
